Firefox OS port for HTC Explorer - New Beginnings

Hello Pakistan...

The little and "mighty" HTC Explorer has been with us for sometime and has refused to die on numerous occasions even when it was said that "YOU ARE OUT!", the little phone stayed in our hearts and some of us still had a warm corner for the phone in our hearts. Such a person is an XDA Developer "cute_prince" who came up with something amazing.

A Firefox OS port for HTC Explorer or otherwise known as Pico. Now lets be clear there are some bugs with it but we have to give full marks for the try. Who knows a more stable version may be released in the coming future. 

The “not working” list is as follows:

• Sim Card Detection Problem (Although some users have reported their SIM got detected)
• USB Mass Storage mode
• Video Recording (Will take pictures though)
• Bluetooth

So if you are brave and want to feel what it feels like to have Firefox OS on your HTC Explorer/Pico then fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride.

Warning: This is not tested by me however many users are reporting a successful port with the above mentioned issues. I will not be responsible if your phone is attacked by aliens and destroyed.

Stuff you'll need:

• A rooted HTC Explorer with CWM Recovery
• Firefox OS ROM (Download)
• Patience and Brain (although finding both together may be very difficult)

Procedure:

1. Copy the downloaded ROM into the root folder (main area) of your SD Card.
2. Reboot your device to CWM Recovery
3. Make a Backup of your current ROM in the recovery. This will save you if things go bad, so make one before moving on.
4. Now do a full data and cache wipe. Goto "Advance Options" and then wipe dalvik cache.
5. Goto "Install Zip From Sd Card" and Select "Choose Zip From SD Card".Now select the rom downloaded earlier. Confirm the installation and wait till the rom is installed on you handset.
6. Reboot and enjoy the brand new taste of firefox OS on your HTC Explorer
